PISSle

PISSle is a word ladder. Start from the day's word and change one letter at a time until you get to PISS. Every step has to be a real word.

How it works

Everyone starts from the same four letter word. Each move changes one letter, and the new word has to be real.

There's no guess limit. What counts is how many moves it took you to get there.

Work from both ends

Don't just push forward from the start word. Think of words that are one letter away from PISS too, then work out which of those you can reach from your starting word.

Most ladders get solved where the two sides meet in the middle.

Stuck? Change a vowel

Some words have tons of neighbours and some have hardly any. If you get stuck, you've probably landed on a word with very few options. Changing a vowel usually opens things back up.

Example

Start by listing words one letter away from PISS, like PASS, KISS, MISS, HISS or DISS. Those are your targets.

Then look at your starting word and see which of those you could get to in two or three moves. Aiming for one specific word is much easier than guessing your way forward.

Tips

1Write down the words next to PISS first.
2Don't hang on to a matching letter if changing it opens up a better path.
3The first route you find is rarely the shortest.
4If you've been stuck for a while, go back and try a different second move.
