Redraw

You get a blank canvas and a country's name. Paint its flag from memory, and your score is based on how well your colours line up with the real one.

How it works

You get the country's name, a palette, a brush size slider and one peek. The peek shows the real flag for two seconds, and you can only use it once.

Under the canvas there's undo, redo and clear. There's also a colour wheel for colours that aren't in the palette, and an eyedropper to grab a colour you've already used.

How it's scored

Your drawing is compared to the real flag area by area. You get points for colouring the right spots and lose them for colouring the wrong ones.

So leaving half the flag blank hurts, and so does scribbling everywhere. Getting the big areas roughly right matters way more than the details.

Do the big parts first

Fill in the biggest block of colour first, using the largest brush. Then do the next biggest. Only bother with stars, crests or emblems if you have time.

Three clean stripes will score better than three messy stripes with a nice emblem in the middle.

Example

Today's flag is Japan. You might want to start with the red circle, but most of the flag is white, and the canvas is already white, so leave it.

Just put one red circle in the middle at about the right size and you're done. Easy high score.

Tips

1Only use the peek if you're really stuck. Two seconds goes fast.
2Get the size of the stripes right before you worry about the exact shade.
3Use the eyedropper to reuse a colour instead of trying to match it by eye.
4Don't paint the white parts. The canvas is already white.
