Warmer

Warmer hides a country. Every guess tells you how far away you are, which direction to go, and whether you're getting warmer or colder.

How it works

Guess any country. It gets coloured on the map from cold blue to hot red depending on how close it is. You also get the distance, a direction, and whether you're warmer or colder than your last guess.

You have eight guesses, and they all stay on the map, so you can see where you've already been.

Distance is border to border

The distance is measured between the closest edges of the two countries, not their centres. So a huge country like Russia can come back close even though most of it is nowhere near the answer.

If a big country comes back surprisingly warm, the answer is probably near whichever edge of it is closest to your other guesses.

Adjacent means you're right next to it

If your guess shares a border with the answer, it says adjacent instead of giving a distance. You're usually one guess away at that point. Think of that country's neighbours and use the direction to pick one.

Example

You guess Brazil. It's cold, thousands of miles away, and the arrow points north east, across the Atlantic.

You guess Spain. Warmer, and now the arrow points south east. Next you try Algeria and it says adjacent. Now it's just a matter of which neighbour is to the south east.

Tips

1Trust the direction arrow. It's the most reliable thing you get.
2Medium sized countries make better early guesses than giant ones.
3Guessing on the other side of the answer teaches you more than slowly creeping closer.
4Look at the colours on the map. Sometimes the pattern is obvious at a glance.
